VIS Class of 1991 - 35-Year Reunion
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know. If something is missing, just ask the committee.
📅 The basics
When exactly does the reunion start and end? ▼
The first optional event is Thursday July 2 at 7:30 PM at Volksgarten. If you are only joining for the main programme, Friday July 3 at 11:00 AM at the VIS campus is your start. The reunion closes on Sunday July 5 with dinner at Heuriger Sirbu - expect to wrap up by late evening.
Do I need to RSVP for each event separately or just once? ▼
Just once - we are not monsters. The RSVP form asks which events you plan to attend so we can work out how many Schnitzels to order and how many pool inflatables to blow up. Fill it in, be honest, and if your plans change just let the committee know. The form is right there on the homepage. It takes two minutes. We have been waiting 35 years - you can spare two minutes.
Can I bring my partner and kids? ▼
Yes, absolutely. Partners and children are warmly welcome, especially at the Saturday garden party which is a full family event with a pool. Please include them in your RSVP headcount so we can plan catering accordingly.
I can't make all four days. Can I still come for part of it? ▼
Of course. Each event is independent and there is no obligation to attend everything. Come for what you can. Even one afternoon is worth the trip. Just let us know in your RSVP which days work for you.
🌞 On the day
What's the dress code? ▼
There is no strict dress code. For the school visit and Strandcafe lunch, casual is completely fine. For the Saturday garden party, think relaxed summer - and bring a swimsuit. For Sunday dinner at Heuriger Sirbu, smart casual fits the setting nicely. No one will be turned away for wearing the wrong thing.
Is the Saturday party indoors or outdoors? What if it rains? ▼
The Saturday garden party is outdoors at Juan & Nassim's home. Vienna in early July is generally warm and sunny, but we are keeping an eye on the weather and have a contingency plan in case of rain. Any changes will be communicated via the WhatsApp group.
I have dietary restrictions. Who do I tell? ▼
The RSVP form has a dietary restrictions field. If you already submitted without mentioning it,
contact the committee and we will note it. We are catering for vegan, vegetarian, no pork, gluten-free, and other requirements - the more notice the better.
Will there be a photographer? ▼
We are looking into this. If anyone in the group has photography skills or knows a good photographer in Vienna, please
let the committee know. In the meantime we are counting on 83 people with smartphones to document the weekend thoroughly.
Will photos be shared after the event? ▼
Yes. We are building a live photo wall on this site where you can post photos during and after the reunion. We will also set up a shared album so everything ends up in one place. More details closer to July.
🚌 Getting there
How do I get from the airport to the city? ▼
The quickest option is the CAT (City Airport Train) - direct to Wien Mitte in 16 minutes, every 30 minutes, around 15 euros. The S7 regional train is cheaper (around 4 euros) and takes about 25 minutes. Taxis and Uber cost roughly 35 to 45 euros depending on traffic.
How do I get to the Saturday garden party? ▼
The party is at
Juan & Nassim's home, easily reachable by car in about 20 to 25 minutes from the city centre. For those without a car, we are organising pickups from
U4 station Heiligenstadt - a quick U-Bahn ride from anywhere in the city.
Reach out to the committee in advance and we will sort you out. Nobody gets left behind. Probably.
How do I get to Kahlenberg for Sunday dinner? ▼
The easiest option is a taxi or Uber, about 25 to 30 minutes from the city centre, around 25 to 35 euros. Bus 38A from Grinzing also goes up the hill if you are feeling adventurous, though a taxi is much more practical in the evening. There is parking at Heuriger Sirbu if you are driving.
Is there parking at the venues? ▼
Most venues have street parking nearby and Heuriger Sirbu has its own car park. One important note: the entire inner city is a Kurzparkzone (short-stay parking zone). If you park on the street Monday to Friday between 9am and 10pm, you must display a Parkschein (parking voucher) available at any Tabak newsagent. Maximum stay is usually 2 hours. A hotel garage is much simpler if you are driving.
🏠 Accommodation and logistics
I haven't booked accommodation yet. What do I do? ▼
A few local classmates have offered to host guests -
reach out to the committee and we will try to match you up. Alternatively, there are plenty of hotels and Airbnbs in Vienna. We recommend the 1st, 2nd, or 22nd districts to be close to the main venues. The
Vienna guide has more detail.
How do I join the WhatsApp group? ▼
What?! You're not in the group? What planet are you living on?! Ok, it's not too late - join the fun!
Drop us a message and we will add you straight away.
Fair warning: the group can get busy at times, especially as July gets closer. It might be a good idea to
mute notifications and check in periodically rather than have your phone buzzing all day. You'll thank us later.
Who do I contact if I have questions? ▼
Send an email to
reunion@35yearsof91.com or message any committee member directly on WhatsApp:
Petra, Nassim, Natascha, Igor, or Armando. Someone will always get back to you quickly.
Who is behind all of this? ▼
The reunion is organized by a small committee of your classmates who have more nostalgia to quench than sense of self-preservation: Petra, Nassim, Natascha, Igor, and Armando. They have been planning this since late 2025 and are responsible for everything from venue bookings to the RSVP campaign to whatever embarrassing thing appears in the WhatsApp group next.
All questions, suggestions, and praise please send to any of the committee members. Any nasty complaints however should exclusively be pointed towards Igor.
Still on the fence?
35 years is a long time between catch-ups. Don't make it 70.
